Staff, student, and community member speech rights in times of a pandemic AND a general election
(because things weren’t tricky enough already).

  • What rights to staff members have to express their views at school or during their personal time regarding issues such as COVID policy or the presidential election?
  • How do student speech rights differ, if at all, when they are learning from home, rather than in your building?
  • What should you consider when a community member shares that she has a right to share her beliefs on public property?

Search & Seizure

  • How do search rights differ when students are learning virtually?
  • What does it really take to have reasonable suspicion prior to searching a student?
  • What are best practices when involving law enforcement or utilizing drug sniffing animals?

These questions and more will be answered during the SAI Fall Legal Lab.
