Do the words “school finance” create tension for you? This session will calm your concerns by providing answers to all your questions about Iowa school finance. From understanding the Certified Budget to Spending Authority, this session will cover all your introductory Iowa school finance needs. 

• Get hands-on practical experience in Iowa school finance, including the application of available data about revenues and expenditures to decision-making. 
• Understand the interaction of Certified Enrollment and State Supplementary Assistance rates. 
• Understand how school districts are held accountable for their financial health. 
• Be able to judge a school district’s financial situation and know where to suggest strategies for improvement.
• Also learn about the differences in the board’s role in setting financial expectations and that of the superintendent to implement and adjust as conditions change in the district.

All of these topics will be covered in an easy-to-understand (and fun) format.
